The earth is currently the only planet we humans have, so it's important that we do our part to make it last as long as possible. Implementing a few of these changes around your house can go a long way toward extending the lifespan of the planet and its resources.
The simple act of segregating your recyclable glass and plastic waste from your non-recyclables and biodegradable matter means there's less junk taking up space in landfills and oceans.
By unplugging your electronics when you're not using them, you cut down on their latent usage of electricity, which also helps save money in addition to being beneficial for the planet.
3. Keep shopping bags
Keep reusable cloth bags for grocery shopping trips.
Be it glass jars, plastic containers or cloth diapers for the baby, identify things you use regularly that can be used again instead of throwing them out.
Wash out that empty jar of pasta sauce and keep coffee, creamer or sugar in it. Keep your rice in an old plastic container of biscuits. This simple change saves you money and creates the good habit of always having reusable containers around the house.
5. Alternative clothing
If you're cold, put on a sweater. If you're excessively warm, strip down to a t-shirt and open a window.
Instead of turning on the heater or air conditioner, wearing the appropriate clothing can help cut down on your electricity bills.
