Yellow is the brightest color on the spectrum, and it is often utilized to communicate joy, happiness, and life. It's for this reason that it works so well as an accent that could brighten up the home. Here are a couple of ideas on how to use this color to make your room pop:
Use yellow against a neutral color scheme.
Place bright yellow furniture, trimmings, or flowers in a room filled with neutral shades like taupe and light gray.
Use yellow against dark gray.
Likewise, the same bright yellow give just the right counterweight to darker grays and browns in a room. Use it much more liberally, such as in sheets, rugs or curtains.
Use yellow against wood.
Bright yellow also works well with rich reddish or dark wood. Look for lamps, flowers, and other yellow decor that you can use a centerpiece. It's a nice counterpoint to a stuffy atmosphere made up mostly of gleaming, furnished wood and beige.
Use yellow with other bright colors.
Bright orange and yellow-green can be paired with yellow against a predominantly white room. It's the perfect color scheme for a pop art-themed room or a kids' bedroom or playroom.
