Ovid, the Roman poet, once said: “Luck affects everything; let your hook always be cast; in the stream where you least expect it, there will be a fish.” Look no further than these lucky charms to cast your hook within your home:
1. The laughing Buddha
In feng shui, it’s a powerful lucky charm. The laughing Buddha is said to bring not only luck, but abundance, good health, success, and happiness to boot.
Look after a goldfish in a suitable aquarium to harness positive energy and good fortune. Eight goldfishes with one black fish are said to keep the bad luck off of your property.
3. Door color
Usher in even more good will by painting your front door according to the direction it opens to. Based on the tenets of feng shui, a front door facing south should be painted red or orange. A front door facing north should be blue or black. A front door facing west should be gray or white. Lastly, a front door facing east should be brown or green.
4. Three keys
Three decorative keys, hung on a single ring, are said to open the doors to health, wealth, and love.
A popular symbol of luck, horseshoes are used as talismans to attract good fortune. Traditionally hung above the outside of the front door, a horseshoe positioned with its open end up, forming a ‘U’, is said to bring luck to the entire home. Hanging a horseshoe as an inverted ‘U’ brings luck to those who pass beneath it.
6. A money plantFrom the name itself, the money plant is said to bring wealth into your home. Put the plant in the east or southeast portion of your house.
