Already among the leading players in the local industry, Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) received further recognition as one of Asia's top 100 companies with the highest sustainability performance.
ALI ranked #81 on Channel NewsAsia's
Sustainability Rankings, the only Philippine corporation among the entries.
Sustainability Rankings identify the top firms in corporate sustainability across 10 key Asian economies: namely, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Touted as the first of its kind in Asia, the list was assembled from research provided by Sustainalytics. The award-winning firm, involved in sustainable investment research, addressed three themes: environment (operations, supply chain, products and services); social (employees, supply chain, customers, community and philanthropy); and governance (business ethics, corporate governance, public policy).
Regional broadcaster Channel NewsAsia, in partnership with Corporate Social Responsibility in Asia (CSR Asia) and Sustainalytics, launched the rankings system and honored its top 100 at the CSR Summit in Hong Kong this September.
ALI was was commended for its Vendor Code of Ethics, “a supplier code of ethics requiring its vendors to uphold the human rights of their own employees against universal standards.”
“It is truly an honor for Ayala Land to be recognized as one of Asia’s leading companies in sustainability. We continuously strive to include sustainability in our development processes and it has become integral in the way we do business,” stated Bernard Vincent Dy, president and CEO of the property giant.
ALI’s Sustainability Manager, Anna Maria Gonzales, adds that “the ranking underscores our supply chain managers’ efforts to positively influence and encourage responsible behavior among suppliers and partners.”
“Sustainability works when the whole business chain recognizes its importance,” said Gonzales. According to Gonzales, ALI “take[s] care of our business, the environment, and the community for people to gain something of value, a better quality of life in communities that will thrive over generations. For us, sustainability means doing what we do best in order to contribute to society and to the nation in a positive way.”
