Getting your own home comes with wanting to create a look for it that reflects your unique personality. For bachelors in particular, try one of these three different styles...
If you have a thing for art, quirky collections and interesting items such as vinyl records, you could very well be described as an artsy hipster. To show your funky personality, showcase some of your art pieces or collections, and transform your home into a mini-gallery of sorts for your special finds. Go for mostly white walls, with splashes of bright color on accent walls. You can then display vinyl records, paintings, prints and such on your walls in a creative way. Keep your furniture simple and downplay accessories to keep the focus on your collections.
For a completely opposite direction, go for a sleek and modern aesthetic. A neutral palette of white, black and grays with touches of one accent color will create that well put together look for you. Use luxurious textures and finishes, such as leather, marble, chrome and wenge finish for wood, to keep your space looking formal and upscale. For furniture, select pieces with clean lines. Iconic pieces from the Bauhaus era, such as Van Der Rohe's Barcelona Chair and Le Corbusier's Siege Grand Comfort, are perfect for this look.
Rugged Guy Next Door
If you're going for a casual, laid-back style, you can opt for a rugged vibe reminiscent of New-York style apartments. Exposed brick walls, wooden textures and a lot of natural light are the trademark features of this look. A slightly worn, lived-in ambiance when it comes to styling is essential for this aesthetic. Go for casual drapes without tie-backs, a slouchy couch and throw pillows with graphic elements. You can't go wrong with the no-fuss vibe and light-colored wood of Scandinavian furniture, such as the Wishbone Chair. - Aislinn Kee
