Upmarket developer Century Properties Group (CGP) is about to unveil master plans for two major integrated resorts located in San Vicente, Palawan and Batulao, Batangas.
The San Vicente resort spans 56 hectares while the Batulao estate is 142 hectares. Construction is scheduled to begin early in 2016, according to CPG president and chief operating officer, Jose EB Antonio.
Antonio expressed high hopes for the projects, noting that tourism was at an all-time high. Speaking to reporters at the 4th Asia Pacific Real Estate Investment Summit, Antonio stated that the projects are slated for domestic tourism. "Domestic tourism in this country, based on the latest study, [is about] 40 million tourists," said Antonio. "All of us are tourists. We go to Palawan, Boracay, Cebu."
"Tourism is one of the low-lying fruits in the economy today. However," Antonio continued, "in order to attract tourists in this country — whether for leisure or medical – I think we have to improve our access."
“We are dedicated to serve first the domestic market then hopefully, with the increased arrivals of foreign tourists, we' be able to serve them too," said Antonio, who also disclosed that CPG is in talks with international hotel brands to put up three- to five-star hotels in the two projects.
“There are various brands that are really interested in coming to the Philippines," said Antonio, who called these prospects "world-renowned" hotels.
“The Philippines is really a place they would like to expand presence. You name it, and they want to come here."
