Regardless of the size of your home, being efficient when cleaning can help save time and energy, allowing you to spend more time living in the space instead of cleaning it. Get tips…
1. Clean as you go
If you get into the habit of removing clutter as you go, you’ll find that your house becomes more organized without having to dedicate extra time to cleaning and organization. Making a habit out of things such as putting objects back where they belong and putting trashcans in areas that naturally accumulate clutter, such as a home office, will go a long way to reducing the time you spend cleaning your home.
2. Prioritize and plan
Before you begin cleaning, write down a quick checklist of what you need to clean, eliminating the time spent deciding on the next task. Furthermore, clean only what really needs cleaning; the second bedroom that you rarely use is much less of a priority than your main bathroom, or kitchen. Prioritize spaces that actually need to be cleaned, and don’t just clean up because it’s ‘cleaning time’.
3. Organize your tools
Keep your cleaning supplies together: the mop and surface cleaners for the kitchen, scrubs and sponges for the bathroom and dusters/vacuums for the bedrooms. Organizing your tools makes it easier to get started.
4. Top to bottom
When cleaning a room and its furniture, start at the top and work your way down. This way, any dirt or dust that falls to the floor is cleaned up last, and any cleaner that drips down surfaces will be cleaned up last, keeping the whole process neat and tidy.
