But thanks to his spirit of determination, Alquileta bounced back from hard times. To date, he has sold houses and bank assets worth more than P500 million in total, all through hard work and his new start-up.
Alquileta founded My Saving Grace Realty and Development Corporation (MSGRDC), a realty firm which soon became known for their range of bank-foreclosed assets and value-for-money property.
The company came about when Alquileta was working as a broker for various bank-foreclosed listings and Special Purpose Asset Vehicle (SPAV) companies. With his innate salesmanship, Alquileta garnered praise and recognition, and soon afterwards, he set out on his own and opened MSGRDC in January 2013.
Equipped with the wisdom his own struggles have taught him, Alquileta is now on a mission to provide homes through a company whose motto is "integrity before profit."
"Maraming gustong magkabahay o mag-invest ng pera nila na higit pa sa kinikita ng pera nila sa bangko," shares the reformed businessman. To this end, Alquileta says that his company "guides buyers on choosing a house or property within their means."
"Marami na rin akong narinig na naloko ng brokers. Nag-down[payment] tapos iniwan at tinakbuhan na. 'Yung iba naman after closing the sales at nagkabayaran na, wala nang customer service support. We at My Saving Grace Realty and Development Corporation ensure that all our clients are treated well, because we believe they deserve that kind of service, and we also know that every centavo they pay for their investment is hard-earned money from sweat and blood," says Alquileta.
It was a rough start, according to the company head. "Two years ago ilang milyon lang ang benta namin. Subalit sabi ko sa mga kasama ko, hindi pwedeng ganito ulit ang benta natin. Kailangan pag-igihan natin para magpatuloy ang kinikita ninyo at nakakatulong pa tayo," says Alquileta. "I always challenge my Sales Team na kumayod nang husto."
In a short span of time, the company flourished. Alquileta says he's proud to have helped OFWs get their dream homes and their businesses set up. His company has also welcomed retirees who were eager to sign up and earn a living as brokers. Recently, Alquileta has also turned to “For Lease” listings to broaden the company’s portfolio.
“This is what I want, that every year we increase our target and increase also the result. Hindi naman pwedeng target lang na walang result 'di ba?" says Alquitea.
To date, the company keeps expanding, taking in brokers, agents, aspiring salespeople, and even homeowners who want to try their hand at real estate. Alquileta is eager to guide them and lend his experience to their benefit."In this business that I set up, marami rin akong natutulungan. Marami na rin akong trabaho na naibigay,” shares Alquileta. “I thank the people who helped and trusted me. I got a lot of referrals and thank God, all of them are successful now, achieving their dreams and making the truly wise investment."
