1. Look for Meralco’s orange tag- Meralco’s new orange tag program helps consumers to identify the energy consumption of an appliance. When shopping for any appliance, look for this seal of energy efficiency. The Energy Label Guide offers information about an appliance’s average energy consumption and the operating cost of the item. Hence, you can start computing your savings based on the information.2. Look for natural gas appliances- For appliances that run on electricity or natural gas, pick the latter. Some of the appliances that have this option are stoves, water heaters, and dryers among others.3. Find the sight Size- Sometimes we don’t need to buy the biggest most expensive unit just because we can. Before buying anything, it is best to think about how often you’ll be using an appliance. For example, if you’re not much of a cook and prefer eating out, perhaps a smaller stove and microwave would be a better fit for your lifestyle.4. Think Long Term- Purchase only appliances that you intend to last for a lifetime. And for such quality, expect to invest. You may be cashing out more for the initial purchase, however, remember that you’ll be reaping greater savings in the long run.
