How to Keep Your Bedroom Cool This Summer

You may think that staying in the bedroom can alleviate the summer heat, but there are several factors to consider. Here are a few tips to help keep your bedroom cool this summer:

1. Turn off the lights
Apart from saving energy, turning off the lights will reduce the heat produced by your bulbs. If you can, keep your light usage to a minimum and turn them off when not in use. Mellow lamps may also be a good alternative during the night time.

2. Use blinds instead of curtains
Using blinds are more efficient in keeping a room cooler because they can be controlled to block sunlight from getting in while allowing the wind or a cool breeze through. Block out the sun but keep your ventilation on with smart window blinds.

3. Leave your door open
To let hot air out, keep your door open. It’s that simple.

4. Use a fan
Fans are usually cheaper to operate rather than air conditioning units. A strategically placed electric fan will ensure a well-ventilated living space and a lower electricity bill.

5. Use indoor plants
Putting a plant inside your room isn’t just for decoration! Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, ensuring the decrease of ambient temperature. For best results, try a potted aloe vera plant for a better indoor air quality.
