How To Stage Your Home For Pictures

So, you’re planning to sell your home online and the first thing you want to do is take great pictures to make a good impression to prospective home buyers. But it seems like whenever you click your camera, the images you see aren’t so appealing. How exactly can you stage your home to be photo ready?

Clean It Up

A dusty and dirty space will probably turn away any potential buyers. A shiny, spic and span home however, can make a place more attractive and inviting. Before taking a photos of your space, make sure that you’ve given it a good dusting and scrubbing. Check tabletops and floors to see if there are some stains and specks of dirt that need to be taken care of. Remember that you have to put your best foot forward and you can do that with a clean space

Fix Your Furniture

Symmetrical furniture can make your space look inviting

You should also consider arranging and spacing your furniture properly. Make sure that your furniture is not leaning against the wall, rather push it a few inches away to add depth to your pictures. Symmetrical arrangements also work well in photos, so use lamps, vases, and other fixtures to create an inviting space.

Light It Well

If you live in a place that gets wonderful lighting from the outside, use that to your advantage. Natural light makes spaces feel more warm and homey, and therefore enticing viewers to your home. Otherwise, make sure that you utilize the lights in your house.

Get Rid of Clutter

Remove clutter to keep your space looking neat

When taking a photo of a room or area in your house, minimize the clutter and leave the essentials. That way, your place can also appear bigger. For example, if you’re capturing your kitchen area, clear your closets and cupboards of unnecessary items and keep a few fixtures such as your coffee maker and a few of your nice-looking china.

Balance It Out

While a perfectly staged home is good, you also have to avoid making it look too artificial. Don’t forget to add elements of a living space such an open magazine or a basket of fruits or flowers that way, interested buyers can have a sense of how it is to live in your space.
