Introducing pattern in your home

Prints and patterns lend a great visual impact to any space. Knowing where and how to incorporate these beautiful designs in your home means you can turn an alright room into something special.

You may also introduce pattern in accent pieces. These may be anything from throw pillows and art prints to vases and trays.

Pattern is a great way to liven up your home design ,so check out these easy ways to use pattern in and around your house.

Upholstery

Sofas and chairs decked with bold patterns offer an immediate style upgrade.

Large furniture pieces are typical items that can catch your eye at a moment’s notice, so having upholstered furniture will give your room that instant graphic impact. For a subtler take on patterned upholstery, mix solid colors or toned down patterns with intricate prints.

A dining table for eight can have four chairs with patterned upholstery and the other four chairs with a solid color inspired by a dominant color in the pattern.

Accents

You may also introduce pattern in accent pieces. These may be anything from throw pillows and art prints to vases and trays. The advantage of accent pieces is the flexibility of your home design style.

A neutral color palette for all the interior materials and furniture gives you the opportunity to play around with color and pattern in accent décor. You may also change the accents every so often to update your home’s interiors.

Walls and drapes

Having patterns on walls and window treatments can create graphic interest on every eye level, as these can be viewed at different angles in the room.

Wallpaper is an obvious choice for wall pattern, but you may also go the DIY route. Create your own pattern by using different wall laminates or other materials to create your own wall pattern.

Incorporate pattern in your window treatments with vibrant textile patterns.

Underfoot

Pattern can also be introduced with rugs and carpets, which come in all shapes and sizes. Be sure to measure your room or area size before you go rug shopping.

Rugs lend a visual interest with prints and patterns, but aside from that, they also add a tactile dimension to your space.
