Start the morning right with a bed that smells fresh and invigorating. See to the following tips and tricks to keep your bed nice and clean:
Air out your mattress. Throw off the covers after you get up in the morning. Open the windows. Allow for some time to air out the mattress before you make the bed. Occasionally, bring your mattress outdoors on a bright, windy day with lots of sun. Airing out your mattress prevents buildup of moisture in the material. It should also dislodge any loose dust and debris.
Change sheets. Change or wash the sheets, the pillowcases, your blanket, and your comforter regularly to prevent buildup of dirt, moisture, odor, and other, unwanted add-ons to your bed.
Freshen up with baking soda. Baking soda is a go-to deodorizer. Strip the bed of its sheets. Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress and leave for a few hours. Then, vacuum your mattress. Replace the sheets or, better yet, use fresh sheets from the laundry.
Clean spills immediately. When you spill a drink or other substance on your bed, see to it immediately. Blot it out with a tissue or a dry towel, pressing hard upon the stain to absorb it off of your bed. Use a sprinkling of baking soda over the spill and leave it as long as needed before using the vacuum to remove the powder.
Clean your room. The cleaner your room, the cleaner your bed. Dust and debris in your room could easily insinuate themselves between the sheets. A bad odor in the room could also cling to the bed. As such, clean your room regularly.
Add scents. Spritz your bed with a subtle and soothing perfume, or put mint leaves and other crushed, dried petals underneath your pillow.
