Keep your bedroom fresh and organized

Apart from design style and other features such as a workspace or an entertainment area, the bedroom’s primary function is meant for sleep and relaxation.

Small changes can do wonders to a bedroom. Changing your bed linen to new colors can instantly alter the mood of the room.

However, keeping clutter at bay may be difficult for some homeowners. Clutter can be a hindrance to a restful ambiance in the bedroom. Discover how to keep your bedroom clutter-free and organized with these helpful tips.

Simplify your closet

Closet space takes up a significant part of the bedroom. In smaller homes, fewer closets provide limited space for clothes and other knickknacks. It’s good practice to streamline your wardrobe every so often, to get rid of some items you no longer wear or use. Take everything out of your closet and assess each piece carefully. This frees up much-needed closet space.

Make it a point to clean the insides of your closet too, as dust can settle in the most obscure areas.

Reorganize your workspace

When it comes to bedrooms with workspaces, work-related items can easily pile up and take over much of the bedroom space. Keep your bedroom calm and serene by reorganizing your working area.

Throw out any dated files and keep everything in drawers and cabinets. Having a clear desk surface will evoke a more restful atmosphere.

Dust and clean

Thoroughly dust and clean your bedroom. You’ll be surprised at how much dust can accumulate on surfaces and in nooks and crannies. Have your curtains washed or in the case of other types of window treatments, vacuum-cleaned.

Clean the upper areas of the room first such as shelves and headboards before moving your attention to the floors – this will help prevent the dust from settling on your clean floors.

Freshen up your room

Small changes can do wonders to a bedroom. Changing your bed linen to new colors can instantly alter the mood of the room. Add fresh flowers for a refreshingly organic touch.

Also consider making major style changes such as a new room layout which can bring a different vibe to the space, while changing your accent features, perhaps a piece of wall art or your headboard, can also make for a dramatic impact.
