Mobile phones and tablets have now become as commonplace as the pen and paper when it comes to functionality and familiarity. However, these electronic gadgets are not as easy to use or maintain from the harsh elements.
Keeping your electronics dust-free is imperative to extend their lifespan and function. Here are a few tips to keep them clean for longer in your home:
1. Clean your device everyday
The thoroughness of the cleaning will depend on type of device in question. Unlike an iPad or similar device, which has convex parts, a keyboard has a lot of crevices and would require a more “in-depth” approach, so to speak. For electronics with screens, try using a moist cloth to wipe out the dust build-up.
2. Invest in cases and covers
Covering your device in plastic or rubber will keep dust from building up. There are even some companies today that offer sticker covers for a slimmer, dust-free profile. These cases cover almost all current gadgets, such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, music players, and even gaming consoles. For larger electronics, such as the TV, a desktop computer, or a sound system, you can opt to use the plastic sheet or wrap they came with upon purchase to cover them when not in use. You can also use a tablecloth or another fabric -- just make sure to unplug these electronics.
3. Keep away from open spaces
Dust is a combination of diverse substances such as dried food particles, mold spores, pollen, and fabric fibers among others. It accumulates when there is air in dry spaces. To keep your gadgets dust- and pollen- free, make sure to store them away from open spaces with a lot of ventilation or outside air coming in. Vacuuming the room every day will also help.
