Two new hotels are bound to beef up Megaworld Corp.'s portfolio this 2015.
Occupying eight floors in the 12-story Richmonde Tower in Iloilo City, the Richmonde Hotel Iloilo is set to open its doors in June, duking out 151 guest rooms. It is fitted with a restaurant and deli, function rooms, a business center, a gym, and a lap pool with a pool bar. Architectural firm Gettys designed the facade, grand lobby, the restaurant, and the guestrooms.
The first of its brand outside of Manila, the hotel boasts of a prime address in the heart of the mixed-use, masterplaned district of Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao. Due to its strategic location, it was conceptualized to cater to travelling businessmen as well as tourists in the city.
"Finally, we are bringing a new hotel experience for Iloilo where business indeed meets sophisticated pleasure. The people of Iloilo can now be proud of having a hotel that truly provides first class standards. We will certainly set the bar of hotel lifestyle in Western Visayas," said Carmen Fernando, managing director of Prestige Hotel & Resorts Inc., the company poised to manage the Richmonde Hotel.
In addition, Megaworld is opening another hotel in Newport City, home of Resorts World Manila. Billed as the Belmont Hotel Newport, the 10-story development features 480 suites. Guests will be serviced by an array of first-class amenities, among them a 24-hour fitness center and workout area, a lap pool with in-water pool lounge, a pool spa, a sunbathing lounge, a massage deck, a sauna, a landscaped atrium, pocket gardens, and a medical clinic. The ground floor, meanwhile, will host a coffee shop, a bar, and some retail options.
"We have been experiencing an increasing demand for hotel rooms in Newport City
because of its proximity to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and of course, the presence of Resorts World Manila. Belmont Luxury Hotel Newport will primarily cater to business travelers who expect luxurious hotel experience in a private enclave,” said Francisco Canuto, senior vice president of Megaworld.
Andrew Tan, Megaworld chairman, announced last year that the realty firm has set a goal of building hotels with a total of 12,000 rooms across the country. In partnership with its sister company Travellers International Hotel Group, Megaworld will be churning out 10,000 new hotel rooms in its townships in the next five years.
