The Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG recently opened a new service desk in Toronto, Canada.
Located at the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, the service desk is slated to provide Filipinos in Canada more convenient means to purchase homes in the Philippines through Pag-IBIG's housing loan.
Pag-IBIG president and CEO Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe stated that, "With the sizeable number of Filipinos in Canada and their strong demand for Pag-IBIG housing loans, we deemed it opportune to open a Pag-IBIG service desk in Canada so we can provide better access for our members."
The Filipino population in Canada -- permanent residents, immigrants, and OFWs -- is estimated to be at 700,000. According to Pag-IBIG, Canada ranks as the sixth country in the world with the most Filipinos who avail of Pag-IBIG's services.
"With Pag-IBIG's robust financial standing and transparent fiscal management, you can be assured that your savings with Pag-IBIG is secure and grows faster. OFWs are mandatorily covered by Pag-IBIG, while Filipino immigrants and permanent residents are welcome to become voluntary members," added Berberabe.
Pag-IBIG has 15.9 million members to date, according to Berberabe. OFW members, meanwhile, are pegged at 4.4 million, which make up 30 percent of Pag-IBIG members.
