Once known for being a shopping and business district, Ortigas Central, Pasig is building itself up to be a modern cosmopolitan area where work, home and play are just steps away from each other.
Whether it's a luxury penthouse, a homey loft or a simple studio, there are many property options inside the district. Apartment rental prices can start as low as P9 000 for a bare studio unit, to as much as P35 000 or more for a three bedroom or penthouse apartment.
These apartments are almost a walking distance from a number of malls, namely Robinson's Galleria, The Podium and SM Megamall. Nearby office buildings are home to a number of local and multinational companies.
Ortigas Central is also home to top private schools and colleges such as Poveda, University of Asia, the Pacific and St. Paul College Pasig. Its central location makes it easy to commute through to FX or take a bus up north to as far as Antipolo or down South to Alabang, through terminals near their major malls. It is also accessible via MRT's Ortigas station.
However, there is more to life in Ortigas Central than work, study and home. The Ortigas Foundation Library is a cultural hub and holds events such as lectures and free movie screenings for those looking to hit the books once again. Emerald Avenue also closes itself off to cars on Sundays, inviting residents and visitors to take a stroll, bike or jog down the avenue and enjoy the fresh air. If you're looking for drinks and good music, Metrowalk and Ortigas Home Depot have different restaurants and bars with tunes and food to suit every mood and craving.
While often described over the years as the second most important business district in Metro Manila, it’s clear that Ortigas is vying for the top spot. It may only be a matter of time before it makes it. If you want to be at the heart of modern Metro Manila, you should be in Ortigas.
