"Vernacular architecture," according to Robinsons Land Corp., is a style that incorporates local culture into its design.
The developer's seven-story mall, Robinsons Galleria Cebu, was built on this concept, said RLC. Cebuanos are a sociable lot, according to the developer. With this in mind, the mall was designed with roomy, bright, and airy spaces that make malling with a group of friends or family much more enjoyable, and its walkways allows for pleasant and leisurely strolls with one's companions.
Arlene Magtibay, general manager of Robinsons Malls, says that the front walkway, or paseo, is a "modern take on the 'village feel' that prevails throughout Cebu's landscape."
"Robinsons Galleria Cebu's design is in keeping with Robinsons' vision to elevate and create a new shopping experience. Angular shapes were employed throughout the development to create dynamic spaces and interesting zones. The paseos have indoor and outdoor components. The outdoor component offers an al fresco experience where pedestrians can meander, as well as lounge, dine, appreciate the sights, and breathe in fresh air while under the shade created by the terraces and balconies above," said Magtibay.
The mall is set to house Cebuano brands and locators. Located along Gen. Maxilom Avenue in the North Reclamation Area, it stands on 4.7 hectares within a mixed-use development, shoulder-to-shoulder with other forthcoming projects by Robinsons Land. Cebu's second Summit Hotel, two residential condominiums, and two floors with 10,000 square meters for outsourcing firms and offices are pegged to rise in the area.
