Designing your home's exterior is as important as designing its interior. From a real estate investor’s point of view, having a neat and fresh looking façade and entryway are a plus when your home's on the market. An unkempt front yard and shabby exterior paintwork take away from your beautiful home interiors. Keep your property looking stylish with these fresh tips...
1. Wide doorways
Nothing feels grander than walking through wide doorways. In a home, the main door is typically the perfect opportunity to choose a wider option. If your home's frontage is wide, double doors may be a perfect fit. However, avoid using double doors if your house has a narrow frontage as this can create 'unevenness'. Sidelights may also be used to give the illusion of width.
2. High ceilings
Most homes have a front porch or at least a covered walkway or stopping point at the main doorway. To give the entryway some openness, opt for a high ceiling. This will also go well with your wide doorways. High ceilings evoke a feeling of luxury and when implemented in your main entryway, it can feel like a grand entrance.
3. Trimmed landscapes
Nothing ruins a great house façade and architecture than unkempt front yards. Trim your garden plants regularly to avoid overgrowth and weeds. If you’re not up to the chore, be sure to choose plants that are low-maintenance. It may also help to pick only a few variety of plants, so you won’t have a hard time keeping track of each plant’s needs.
