Serviced Residences: What’s the Deal?

With the rise of the global market, more and more people are travelling outside their own countries for longer periods of time compared to before. While this is generally good for business, the cost of having to pay a hotel on a nightly basis has proven to be impractical and expensive. On the other hand, renting a room, a condominium unit or a house for a month or two can be challenging to businessmen as they have to clean after themselves after a long day at work.

Enter serviced residences to solve this dilemma. You have undoubtedly heard of them before: fully-furnished residences available for long-term stays that provide amenities and services you usually only find in hotels. Yes, that is exactly what a serviced residence is and even more.

So, how does it work? The general idea is to pay not only for a room or unit equipped with furniture and appliances needed for daily living, but also for the hotel-like services that comes with it. Imagine living in a hotel, only you have the option to cook your own food or do your own laundry when and if you want to. You can also see it the other way around: imagine renting an apartment and getting someone to cook and clean for you whenever you feel like it. The rates of serviced residences are tailored for long-term stays: the longer you stay, the less you pay per night. Some residences have leasing contracts, while others allow their visitors to check out anytime.

Serviced residences have become a hit worldwide – and that includes the Philippines. Our country’s business districts, especially Makati, are home to quite a number of them. These places are posh and sophisticated, so guests feel as pampered as they usually would in four- or five-star lodgings. However, it is inevitable for them to feel very comfortable and right at home once they enter their rooms, with the sight of a kitchen or even a washing machine greeting them after a tiring day.

In a very short span of time, serviced residences have proven to be a sensible solution to the problem of companies all over the world without compromising security and opulence. Indeed, the newest addition to living spaces in the metro has combined convenience and luxury in perfect proportions.
