SM Prime was top-billed as Executive Leadership Team of the Year. SM Group founder, Henry Sy Sr., was honored with the special citation Lifetime Contributor of the Year.
Hans Sy, president of SM Prime, accepted the award in his father's stead. “I humbly accept this award in his behalf with much pride, knowing all too well that he truly deserves this recognition. His legacy of hard work, leadership, service and integrity will live in our hearts and minds, a strong foundation for us to keep growing and delivering the best,” said Sy in his speech.
Representing the public sector, Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. likewise received the same citation as Sy.
Meanwhile, SM Prime’s corporate social responsibility arm, SM Cares, qualified as a finalist under CSR Company of the Year. A finalist trophy was presented to Annie Garcia, SM Supermalls’ president, and Steven Tan, its vice president. CSR Company of the Year went to P.J. Lhuillier Inc.
Now on its fifth year, the awards recognize excellence among individuals, business leaders and institutions in their respective industries. Held November 12 at the Solaire Resort and Casino, the awards were presented by PLDT Alpha Enterprise during a formal gala.
Richard Mills, chairman of Asia CEO Awards, commended this year's roster of contenders.
“It’s definitely a very exciting time for the Philippines,” said Mills. “You have very strong Filipino companies and international companies run by Filipinos doing great jobs here.”
