When it comes to storage, the saying ‘less is more’ does not hold true. Particularly in condo units, where bathrooms are typically small and compact, extra storage can go a long way.
Use smart storage solutions to keep all your bathroom necessities in place for stress-free mornings. Here are several tips to maximize your bathroom space...
Go vertical. If your bathroom doesn’t have enough floor space to accommodate wide cabinets and drawers, your next best solution is using tall cabinets. Take advantage of your bathroom’s height by installing wall-to-ceiling cabinets.
Use open shelving. Enclosed cabinets tend to make a bathroom space feel more cramped. Use open shelving to extend space and lend a feeling of openness. If you’d rather keep your stored items tucked in and out of sight, you may also go for French cabinet doors or contemporary designs with glass-front doors.
Choose uniform containers. Choose the same type of containers for your bathroom necessities, for a clean and seamless look. Use metal or glass jars for small items such as cotton buds and hair ties.
Opt for basket storage. Group items together in baskets or trays. Arrange them according to the type of task. You can also have a personal basket for each person living in the house. Again, choose a uniform style for the baskets to create a cohesive look. The baskets can also be a decorative element when placed in open shelving units.
Maximize wasted space. Look out for unused spaces that have potential for storage. Hang a caddy behind your bathroom door. Install open shelving beneath your wall-mounted lavatory for extra storage. And place freestanding storage units in dead corners. - Aislinn Kee
