Bathroom designs are dominated by creative tile use. When it comes to function, tiles fit the bill for bathrooms because they respond well to constant moisture and can be cleaned easily. More than this functional aspect though, tiles are also a great way of adding interest and character to your bathroom.
Be creative with your bathroom tile use. Here are some handy tips...
Unify your bathroom space by using a horizontal band of accent tiles. You may opt for a plain accent color to liven up your chosen color scheme or choose a different texture altogether. You may also experiment with patterned or printed tiles and even incorporate a different-sized tile as an accent.
Highlight a certain area in your bathroom, perhaps your lavatory or shower, using tiles. Create a vertical backdrop of accent tiles from floor to ceiling behind your chosen area. This is a great way of adding interest to key locations in the bathroom.
Experimenting with different combinations
Don’t be afraid to mix and match different patterns and textures. A uniform tile design for the entire bathroom may look a little plain so experiment with a combination of different patterns in the same color palette. The similar colors will help unite the different patterns and keep it from becoming too 'busy'.
Don’t forget your flooring either. You may use different tile designs on your bathroom floor to either create a border or a block of accent flooring designs near the lavatory. This will read like a faux bathroom rug, creating a stylish focal point on the floor.
